The LeapFish Mission Download PDF

Unique, Fresh. New, a Lifeline to a breadth of relevant information with instantaneous real-time results – That is what LeapFish is for the User. LeapFish has a mission to address the increased flow of new, abundant and relevant information through empowering Internet users with a unique, bold and radically simple way of accessing the web in a single search. LeapFish consolidates fragmented information from multiple sources and major web portals like Google, Ebay, YouTube and numerous social media outlets (blogs and social networks) and breaks it into simple and wider reaching results for the user all being provided with instantaneous search functionality (no more clicking the "search" button and being led to another page to get results).

The best of technology today isn't one that is necessarily feature-heavy, typically it is the one that simplifies (think Twitter or think Google years ago - the technology that's simplest to use is also, often, the most difficult to create). LeapFish is that type of technology. It's not meant to be better, more complex or feature heavy as related to Google, Yahoo, Live or even Dogpile. LeapFish was designed to leverage and pull from the best of each engine and couple those results with the rest of the relevant unique content that users are seeking but were not getting, until now with LeapFish.

Clay Shirky, a professor at NYU's graduate Interactive Telecommunications Program and a consultant and writer on the social and economic effects of Internet technologies, states "It's not information overload. It's filter failure". We couldn't agree more, Behnam Behrouzi, CEO at LeapFish and creator of several successful internet startups summarizes it as "The explosion of user-generated content is bringing back that sense of fragmentation that existed in the early 90s when the Internet was beginning to take off," Behrouzi said. "There's just so much out there now, and the volume of data requires better consolidation techniques that allow users to not just find information, but to find that which is truly valuable to them on the web."

Why LeapFish is Unique

Our unique real-time instantaneous search functionality returns results as you type each letter. This resolves the need to click a search button or even pluralize a word and then re-click the search button again (an example of the OLD way: type the search term "ipod" in the box and click search, but then you desire results on "ipods" you must add the "s" and then click the search button AGAIN). This is an all-in-one time saver that eliminates clicks and keystrokes coupled with a nimble search application that allows you to modify search characters and get instantaneous results on-the-fly. "Wow and cool", that's what we said when we first created it!

The interface is familiar but unique as well. We aren't trying to get fancy and give you beautiful web page shots and information that is movable and spins like some engines. We want to make the familiar even better. You will find a simple usable interface you are accustomed to but with added features on the right hand side that gives you immediate access to information related to your search. You can then click and dig deeper on each image, video, article or other piece of information that interests you or just hover over a video and view it right on LeapFish with no clicking. Hover over an image thumbnail and get the actual image immediately with no waiting or clicking. The results are set up for your convenience and your perceived relevancy not the search engines. That's what we call refreshing.

The Vision for Search at LeapFish

LeapFish utilizes proprietary hyper-threading technology to communicate with all major online portals and their API's simultaneously to deliver the various search results from across the web to users in a single search query. The engine's relationships with Google, Yahoo, MSN and others all allow for the use and rapid scale of their public API's for the creation of our new search portal.

In addition to working with major online destinations to retrieve and organize the breadth of the Internet, LeapFish features a refreshingly clean and unique content-rich results interface with search widgets that display up-to-the-minute news, images, videos and more on every search term. Click "see more" under a search widget and get a complete list of relevant results. Our vision for search is to give you the most relevant and convenient methods to search, view and gather your information from multiple sources.

LeapFish is continually developing over 200 strong relationships with leading online destinations in search, news, imagery, videos, real estate and more to defragment the accessibility of valuable information online and bring it directly to you.

User Benefits When Using LeapFish

What is the best way to access information? Where should you go to obtain it? The answer to this question has never been as complicated as now. It has been asked for centuries and information has long been sought out by any means necessary, from generation to generation throughout time. The rise of the internet helped solve this issue in more way than one, allowing instant access to a world of information with the convenience of not having to leave your home to obtain it. It is available to everyone and has no limitations. As people demand more (more features, more functionality, more power) we also had an increasing demand that it be easier to navigate and use. So the birth of search engines came just in time, making it easier to search and navigate the web.

Recent changes that have occurred online are directly related to our social norms changing. With that change came more voices, more access and more information. Search engines, Social Networks, Blogs, and Social Bookmarking sites now harness those voices. Now the question is how can we do a better job of filtering this information? Voices are coming from so many channels at the same time that presenting it to the user in a clear and all encompassing fashion is a major challenge.

LeapFish is saying that designing new filters doesn't mean simply updating old filters; these filters are broken for structural reasons. Search Engines, Blogs, Media Sharing, Social Networks and Social Bookmarking sites have added to the wealth of the Internet and LeapFish will help adapt to these changes by:

  • Instantaneous real-time results that eliminate clicks and keystrokes
  • Aggregation, organization and display of the most relevant content for any search query
  • Data feeds that pull from more than just the top 3 – i.e. Youtube, Ebay etc.
  • Same familiar layout but with added features
  • Content can be searched individually for the top 3 versus forced aggregation
  • We can pull more dynamic data from a multi-dimensional aspect
  • Convenience and ease of access to more information on one screen
